Beautiful brand Adorn Cosmetics is well known within the industry for their eco friendly products. We wanted to delve a little deeper into the inspiration behind this - so we asked them a little more about why sustainability is so important to them and how they incorporate it into the everyday of their business. From minimal plastic to refillable packaging, they’re definitely on our list for eco businesses to watch!

 

How does your brand incorporate sustainability into the business?

From the very beginning, we have been committed to protecting our precious planet and have taken all the available steps to make customers who buy from us proud to use Adorn.

​Below are the sustainability initiatives we have incorporated into the business so far:

-SAMPLING PROGRAM

Unique to the beauty industry, our sample program saves you time and money and helps protect our beautiful planet by giving you the opportunity to trial our cosmetics before committing to a full sized product.

-NO EXCESS PACKAGING OR PLASTIC

To minimise landfill and our carbon footprint, our cosmetics are not boxed individually or wrapped in plastic.

-BIODEGRADABLE WRAPPING

To ensure the safe arrival of our beautiful, guilt free cosmetics, we lovingly wrap them with gorgeous eco-friendly, biodegradable / recyclable protective paper and biodegradable / recyclable ribbon. Made from SFI/Recycled material our honey comb looking paper is a wonderful alternative to environmentally harmful plastic bubble wrap and foam peanuts.

-ECO-LUXE REFILLS

We are proudly the first global beauty brand to offer an environmentally friendly cosmetics refill program. Why? Refills are 'better' for the planet by reducing plastic resources and help reduce landfill (plus SAVE you money) by encouraging our customers to reuse their pots.

-AIRLESS PACKAGING

Our products are packaged in luxury 'airless' pumps for optimal formula protection and increased shelf life so our mineral and botanical ingredients are not compromised by the damaging effects of air through oxidation. With each pump, the product is pushed upward, creating a vacuum as the product is dispensed. This vacuum eliminates waste in two ways: The airless environment preserves the product’s efficacy and freshness longer than traditional packaging, and it also allows for every last bit of product to be easily extracted by our customers.

-BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING

Our biodegradable packaging is made from recyclable FSC paper and can be either recycled or placed in your home compost. Decomposition of our biodegradable packaging can take approx. 1-3 years.

What does sustainability/sustainable packaging mean to your business?

Sustainability is at the heart of our eco-luxe, guilt free philosophy. We want our customers to feel good knowing they are part of an ethically conscious movement collectively making a difference with less landfill, less toxins, less animal cruelty, and more kindness.

 

How long have you guys been using Hero Packaging for?

We began using Hero Packing in October 2019 and haven’t looked back.

 

What are your thoughts to Hero Packaging/using it for your packaging?

Hero Packaging aligns perfectly with our eco-friendly ethos and we love knowing customers receive their products in 100% compostable, zero waste satchels.

 

What response did you get from your customers re eco packaging?

Our customers were extremely pleased to hear that their eco-friendly products were also going to be delivered in eco-friendly satchels. We have also received a lot of positive feedback on how “beautiful” the satchels are. Customers also love how they can re-use the satchel.

How has your business changed during the Covid-19 Pandemic?

For us, it is business as usual. We are proudly an Australian made and owned sourcing where possible our mineral & organic ingredients directly from the Australian earth, therefore we are not currently experiencing any product shortages or delays. We have of course introduced additional health and safety measures to protect our staff and customers.
