HEROPACK Mailer FAQs

What are HEROPACK mailers made from?

HEROPACKs are made from 70–80% PBAT, a fully compostable co-polymer, and 20–30% PLA, which is made from cornstarch. They look and feel like plastic, but contain no conventional plastic.

Are HEROPACKs certified compostable?

Yes. In Australia they are certified Home Compostable (AS 5810, ABAP 20091) and Commercially Compostable (AS 4736, ABAP 10172). Internationally they meet EN 13432 for home and commercial composting.

How long do they take to break down?

In a commercial composting facility, within 90 days. In a home compost bin, up to 120 days when composted properly.

How do my customers compost a HEROPACK?

Remove any labels, cut the mailer into pieces and add it to a compost bin as “brown” material. No home compost? Check if your council offers a green organics bin, find a commercial composter through AORA, or find a local composter on ShareWaste.

Is the white strip covering the adhesive compostable?

No. The release strip is a soft plastic, because a compostable strip wouldn’t peel away cleanly from the adhesive. Dispose of it through a soft-plastics or Community Recycling Centre program. The mailer itself remains fully compostable once the strip is removed.

What sizes are available?

The mailer’s dimensions are printed on the back, so reordering the right size is easy.

How do HEROPACK sizes compare to Australia Post satchels?

Does the price include postage?

No. You’re buying the mailers only. Pay for postage separately: get labels printed at an Australia Post shop, or print and pay for labels at home through eParcel, Sendle or your shipping platform.

Can I write on them or use my own shipping labels?

Yes. Both work on the premium matte surface. For a fully compostable parcel, use our compostable HEROLABEL shipping labels.

Are they waterproof?

Yes, HEROPACKs are waterproof and keep parcels safe from rain. If left submerged in water for a long time they will eventually start to break down, as they are designed to.

Can my customers reuse the mailer?

Yes. Every HEROPACK has a double adhesive strip, so your customer can use it again for returns or their own shipments.

Can I remove the HEROPACK logo?

There’s a small HEROPACK logo on the front so your customers know the mailer is compostable. If you’d rather show only your branding, cover it with your shipping label. For fully branded mailers, see our Custom Compostable Mailers.

Are the mailers see-through?

Lighter colours are slightly translucent because of the renewable ingredients used. Black is the most opaque option if privacy matters.

Are HEROPACKs strong enough for my products?

HEROPACKs have a high weight-load rating and handle the knocks of normal shipping. To stay certified home compostable they can’t be as thick as plastic mailers, so items with sharp corners (like shoe boxes) can occasionally pierce them. Trial a few shipments first if you send sharp-edged items.

Do HEROPACKs have a shelf life?

Yes, about 9–12 months when stored somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. We recommend ordering enough for 3–6 months of shipping at a time.

Can I get a sample before buying in bulk?

Yes. Our HEROPACK Sample Packs include one mailer in each available size, in black, white/grey, pink, teal, latte or multicolour. Single sample units are also available on some colours.

Do you offer bulk discounts?

Yes. Choose a larger quantity in the drop-down and the price per mailer drops automatically, from packs of 25 up to 1,000 (up to 5,000 on black).

Can I get HEROPACKs with my own logo?

Yes. Custom printed HEROPACKs start from 500 mailers — see our CUSTOM Home Compostable HEROPACK Mailers.

When will my order ship?

In-stock orders placed before 12pm AEST/AEDT on a business day are dispatched the same day. Australian delivery takes 2–8 business days with standard shipping or 1–3 business days with Express. Sydney metro customers can choose same-day delivery or warehouse pick-up at checkout.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Standard international delivery takes 5–20 days and Express 3–7 days to New Zealand, Canada, the USA, the UK and other supported countries. Import duties and taxes are your responsibility; unpaid shipments are diverted to commercial composting and can’t be refunded.

Can I return mailers?

If you ordered the wrong size or no longer need them, contact us within 14 days of purchase. Approved returns are given as store credit, less handling and restocking fees and the original shipping cost. Because of the mailers’ shelf life, no change-of-mind returns are accepted after 14 days. Orders can’t be amended once placed. See our Shipping & Returns page.

What if something is wrong with my mailers?

Contact us with photos or a short video of the issue. We’ll make it right with a replacement, store credit or refund.

Where are HEROPACKs made?
