New First Nations People Home-Compostable Mailers
We are so excited to launch our second Indigenous designed home-compostable mailers, supporting Children's Ground.
We created these mailers to support First Nations history and celebrate Indigenous culture in Australia. Our vision, together with Children's Ground, is for First Nations people in Australia to achieve their aspirations for their children to enjoy a life of opportunity, strong cultural identity, and personal wellbeing by having voice and agency over their social, cultural, political and economic future.
20% of proceeds from the sale of these mailers go directly to Children's Ground.
Artwork Story - Wala Connections
To Aboriginal peoples across our continent, wala (Yorta Yorta word for water) is life. On such a dry country, fresh wala is vital. This piece represents the important history our waterways share with us. It reflects our intergenerational knowledge and families cultural exchange.
The way of life for Aboriginal peoples was centred around ensuring the use of all resources was sustainable, and wala is a significant part of that balance. Wala connects and interconnects with the land, with the plants, animals and the air we breathe.
To keep our country healthy and safe, Aboriginal peoples ensure that all elements are protected.
Wala shares messages and memories. There are sacred sites throughout our rivers and other waterways. The calmness of our wala for me now holds me grounded and content, it helps me to be present yet reminisce. It reminds me that my ancestors are here and are guiding me.
20% of Proceeds go to Children's Ground
CHILDREN’S GROUND IS AN ORGANISATION LED BY ABORIGINAL COMMUNITIES. THEY ARE CREATING A NEW FUTURE FOR CHILDREN FILLED WITH PROMISE, HOPE AND EMPOWERMENT.
They work with children, families and communities that face the greatest exclusion and live with injustice and disadvantage every single day.
This is Australia’s greatest humanitarian failure and it is preventable.
It looks and feels a hellavalot like plastic, but it's not. Not even close. It is a 100% home-compostable shipping mailer and is made from 70-80% PBAT (a co-polymer that is completely compostable) and 20-30% PLA (which is a fancy way of saying cornstarch).
In a commercial compostable environment, it will break-down within 90 days. At home, it may take up to 120 days.

Our compostable mailers are tough, durable and amazing!
Australia: Home Compostable (AS5810) and Commercially Compostable (AS4736)
International: Home Compostable (EN13432) and Commercially Compostable (EN13432)
Please note: Our First Nations people mailers, as well as our newer Latte, Navy Blue and Red mailers are a little thinner than our pink, purple, teal, yellow and white/grey mailers.
If you're shipping any products which have sharp corners or edges (such as shoe boxes), it's best to trial a couple of shipments with our mailers to ensure everything performs as expected. In order to remain certified home-compostable, our mailers can't be too thick like evil plastic mailers, so sharp corners could sometimes cause damage. Other than that, HEROPACK mailers have a high weight load rating and can withstand all the hard knocks during the shipping process.
Product shelf life: as our compostable mailers are made using renewable ingredients, they have a shelf life of approximately 9-12 months when kept in cool and dry conditions, out of direct sunlight. This should be considered when ordering mailers in bulk. We recommend ordering for a 6-9 month period of shipments.
